The project of the new peripheral interchange railway station linking Tirana’s public and private transport systems, aims at creating a new city hub where leisure, commercial and working activities merge into a single social civic space able to create a new and modern peripheral city center in the Ura district. Main feature of the project is a roof that covers the whole plot. It becomes a membrane that divides the natural atmosphere from the public multifunctional square placed below it. Above rainwater and photovoltaic energy is captured and the shading transform the enormous area in the largest weather protected public space of Tirana.
